Regular Season Round 19: Marousi - Panathinaikos 57-98

The game between Top Four teams took place in Marousi. 3rd placed host Marousi (11-8) was smashed by second ranked Panathinaikos (18-1) 98-57. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Marousi's 16 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Marousi 38-19 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points. International swingman Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the losing side Puerto Rican guard Denis Clemente (185-86, college: Kansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 15 points and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (191-78) scored 9 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 18-1 record behind leader Olympiakos. Marousi at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with PAOK. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Iraklis (#14) in Thessaloniki in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Marousi will play on the road against Panellinios (#11) in Athens and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
