Round 18 in PLK means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Poznan where host PBG Basket (8-10) beat league's leader Energa Czarni (12-6) 78-68 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Energa Czarni. The game was mostly controlled by PBG Basket. Energa Czarni managed to win second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PBG Basket made 31-of-39 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Energa Czarni helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Eddie Miller (191-85, college: Fresno St., agency: ZAG Advocates) who scored 22 points. The former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-87) chipped in 12 points. PBG Basket's coach Milija Bogicevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Cameron Bennerman (193-84, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) who recorded 18 points and his fellow American import guard Jerel Blassingame (177-81, college: UNLV) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively. PBG Basket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Polonia Azbud and Zastal. Energa Czarni at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Asseco Prokom. Energa Czarni will play next round against strong Trefl Sopot trying to make it back to the top of the standings. PBG Basket will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Anwil in Wloclawek.
