Regular Season Round 24: ZTE NKK - Szeged 77-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Szeged's (14-9) road loss to fifth ranked ZTE (16-7) 68-77. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Szeged won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ZTE made 25-of-27 charity shots (92.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Szeged turnovers. Szeged was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American forward Danielle Page (188-86, college: Nebraska) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Judit Szelesy (184-78, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) supported her with 14 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four ZTE players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds by Ukrainian forward Olena Zherzherunova (191-78, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Szeged. International forward Rita Rasheed (180-89, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) added 13 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). ZTE maintains fifth position with 16-7 record. Szeged at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. ZTE will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Szeged will play at home against the league's second-placed Pecs 2010 (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
