Rather predictable result when second ranked Sendai 89ers (22-12) won against at home 5th ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (18-18) 80-73 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kyoto Hannaryz won fourth quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Kyoto Hannaryz was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Quite impressive performance for forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) answered with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) added 10 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Kyoto Hannaryz. Sendai 89ers maintains second place with 22-12 record having ten points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Loser Kyoto Hannaryz keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face Saitama Broncos (#5) on the road in the next round. Kyoto Hannaryz will play against Miyazaki Shining Suns.
