Regular Season Round 29: Beijing Ducks - DongGuan L. 110-89

Very important is a road loss of second ranked DongGuan Leopards (22-5) against eighth ranked Beijing Ducks (15-12) on Sunday night. Visiting DongGuan Leopards were crushed by Beijing Ducks in Beijing 110-89. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of DongGuan Leopards. Beijing Ducks dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to DongGuan Leopards' 38 and made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winners and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbaas (203-83) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds. Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) responded with 34 points (!!!) and the former international center Kai Zhang (211-82) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Beijing Ducks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zhejiang C. and Zhejiang G.L. DongGuan Leopards at the other side keep the second position with five games lost. Beijing Ducks will play against Zhejiang Cyclones (#5) in Hangzhou in the next round. DongGuan Leopards will play at home against the league's leader Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
