Regular Season Round 19: Maccabi T-A - Hapoel Holon 85-79

Premier League top team - Maccabi T-A (18-1) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat sixth ranked Hapoel Holon (9-10) in Tel-Aviv 85-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hapoel Holon. The hosts trailed by 13 points at the halftime before their 53-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Hapoel Holon's players. It was a great evening for international forward Lior Eliyahu (207-85, agency: ZAG Advocates) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Doron Perkins (188-83, college: Santa Clara) helped adding 11 points and 6 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Rich Melzer (203-79, college: Wisc.-RiverFal., agency: Court Side) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Kasib Powell (201-81, college: Texas Tech, agency: Court Side) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-1 record. Hapoel Holon at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face league's second-placed Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Holon will play at home against Maccabi Haifa (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
