Regular Season Round 23: Geneve Lions - Monthey 74-63

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Geneve Lions (16-7) defeated at home 5th ranked Monthey (13-10) 74-63 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Geneve Lions. Monthey managed to win third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geneve Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Monthey's 28. They outrebounded Monthey 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Geneve Lions made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Marcus Sloan (205-82, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized Senegalese forward Jules Aw (200-86) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Geneve Lions players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Westher Molteni (200-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and American guard John Sharper (186-84, college: San Diego St.) scored 17 points and 4 steals. Geneve Lions moved-up to second place, which they share with Fribourg. Loser Monthey keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Geneve Lions will meet at home Boncourt (#6) in the next round. Monthey will play against SAM Massagno and hope to secure a win.
