Regular Season Round 90: Erie Bay H. - Tulsa 66ers 98-96 OT
Date: March 5, 2011
Tasmin Mitchell is right. His baseline jumper at the buzzer might have had a chance of going in Saturday night. "You never know," a sly Mitchell said. "Maybe. Maybe not." Slim chance. "No comment," Erie forward Ivan Johnson said with a grin. Whether it did or didn't doesn't matter to Erie because the final outcome ended in its favor. The BayHawks pulled out an 98-96 overtime win against Tulsa on a goaltending call of Mitchell's shot at Tullio Arena. "Tough call against us, but it was probably the right call," Tulsa coach Nate Tibbetts said. Johnson scored a game-high 39 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the BayHawks (25-13) snapped a three-game losing skid before a season-high home crowd of 5,236. Erie is 1-2 versus the West Conference leading 66ers (28-11). "We needed this big time," Mitchell said. Johnson scored 24 of Erie's 47 points after halftime to keep the BayHawks in a game that ended in anti-climatic fashion. *Courtesy of www.goerie.com
