There was no surprise in Ankara where 7th ranked Pertevniyal (9-11) was crushed by third ranked Genc Telekom (14-6) 81-62 on Saturday. Genc Telekom outrebounded Pertevniyal 43-24 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Gokhan Karabiyik (205-88) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Azerbaijan power forward Orhan Haciyeva (201-89) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Ali Isik (205-90) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Bulut Altin (185-93) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Genc Telekom have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group A with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Optimum TED, which they share with Usak. Pertevniyal lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Genc Telekom will face Izmir B.B. (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pertevniyal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul FMV Isikspor.
