Regatas Corrientes are the new Liga Americas champions. They toppled Capitanes de Arecibo in the key clash on the third day of Final Four action in Xalapa. Federico Kammerichs scored 23 points to lead the Argentinean team to the glory. He was named the MVP after the game. Regatas shocked the Puerto Rican side early as they went on a 10:0 run to take 20:10 lead. Regatas entered the second term up by eight points 20:12. Capitanes struggled to get any closer in the second quarter. They faced a 33:45 halftime deficit. Federico Kammerichs stepped up for the Argentinean side in the third term as he unloaded 10 points. Regatas Corrientes headed into the fourth frame up by as many as 18 points 70:52. Capitanes fought eagerly in the final minutes but came up short of victory. Eduardo Villares knocked down 14 points for the winners. Javier Martinez contributed 12 points, 14 assists and 5 boards for Regatas. Danilo Pinnock responded with 19 points and 6 boards for Capitanes de Arecibo. Larry Ayuso provided 16 points in defeat.
