Regular Season Round 39: Khimik - Azovmash 81-84

Twelfth-ranked Khimik (11-26) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Azovmash (24-14) in Yuzhny on Monday. The visitors from Mariupol managed to secure only three-point victory 84-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Khimik trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 26-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-84 at the end of the game. Azovmash made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Azovmash outrebounded Khimik 38-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Fred House (195-78, college: S.Utah, agency: Lanshire Group) helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Azovmash players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) with 29 points and the former international swingman Alexander Kolchenko (198-88) scored 17 points. Khimik's coach Zoran Martic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 24-14 record. Khimik lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 26 games lost. Azovmash will meet Kryvbasbasket (#8) in the next round. Khimik will play against Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv and hope to secure a win.
