Leader B&W Opava delivered the twelfth victory on Wednesday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Lokomotiva Plzen (3-20) 72-68. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. B&W Opava dominated on the defensive end, holding Lokomotiva Plzen to just 7 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for forward Jakub Blazek (203-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. Slovakian guard Marek Stec (193-80, college: Jacksonville JC) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four B&W Opava players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Stepan Vrubl (186-76) with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Ladislav Pecka (197-91) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Lokomotiva Plzen's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. B&W Opava maintains first place with 12-11 record. Newly promoted Lokomotiva Plzen keeps the sixth position with 20 games lost. B&W Opava will meet Basketbol Brno (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lokomotiva Plzen will play against Basketbal Svitavy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
