Regular Season Round 18: Proteas - Apollon Ptol. 53-43

An interesting game took place in Voula, where higher ranked Apollon (9-9) lost to tenth ranked Proteas (5-13) in a road game 43-53 on Saturday. Apollon was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 17-3 charge of Proteas, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Apollon to just 3 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was German power forward Linda Frohlich (188-79, college: UNLV, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and Serbian guard Tamara Ruzic (181-79, college: Charleston So., agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted Proteas maintains tenth position with 5-13 record. Loser Apollon dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Proteas will face higher ranked Panathinaikos (#5) in Athens in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
