Second Stage Round 4: ABA Strumica - Lirija 81-80

The most exciting game of round 4 in the Superleague took place in Strumica. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Lirija (7-15) to fifth ranked ABA Strumica (10-12) 81-80 in the game for the fifth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lirija won fourth quarter 17-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of center Slobodanco Hadzivasilev (208-81) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 8 rebounds and American guard David Buchberger (193, college: Lehigh) who added 10 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. ABA Strumica's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Gorge Jovanovic responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Dominican guard Carlos Morban (187-82, college: Florida Intern., agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 19 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted ABA Strumica maintains fifth position in Superleague with 10-12 record. Lirija at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. ABA Strumica are looking forward to face higher ranked Torus Skopje (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lirija will play against Fersped-Rabotnicki in Skopje and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
