Regular Season Round 17: MIA Academy - GTU Tbilisi 90-83

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: MIA (#4) and GTU (#9). MIA (12-4) won against visiting GTU (5-12) 90-83. It looked good early as GTU took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MIA had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and GTU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-90. MIA forced 22 GTU turnovers. Guard Beka Tsivtsivadze (190-89) nailed 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Cameroonian forward Talba Toudjani (201-80) accounted for 10 points and 12 rebounds. Five MIA players scored in double figures. Guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) came up with 42 points (!!!) and 5 assists and forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) added 23 points and 10 rebounds respectively for GTU in the defeat. GTU's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. MIA moved-up to third place, which they share with Kutaisi. GTU at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. MIA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena GSAU.
