Regular Season Round 3: Los Mochis - Guaymas 87-106

Another interesting game for Ostioneros de Guaymas (1-2) which played on the court of Pioneros Los Mochis (0-3). Seventh ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas had an easy win 106-87. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Ostioneros de Guaymas's pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-16 extending their advantage to 19 points. They made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game. Pioneros Los Mochis were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Raul Navarro (192-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. The former international center Omar Lopez (203-80, college: Cal.Baptist) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import swingman Nathan Sims (191-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains seventh place with 1-2 record. It was Pioneros Los Mochis' third loss in a row. They still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Tepic and Mexicali. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again at home against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
