Quarter-Finals Round 2: TU/Rock - Ventspils 61-62

Ventspils swept their BBL quarterfinal series against TU/Rock. The Latvian team completed the sweep in Tartu tonight. Rashad Anderson hit a jumper with four seconds remaining in regulation to seal the winning outcome for the visitors. Ventspils became the first Baltic League Elite Division Final Four. The lead changed hands throughout intense first frame before Timo Eichfuss gave the hosts a 16:13 lead. A seesaw action continued in the second term. Ventspils managed to pull in front posting a 30:29 lead after ten minutes. Rain Veideman scored quick eight points midway through the third term as TU/Rock grabbed a 41:34 lead. But Ventspils managed to narrow the gap at just four points in one quarter remaining 43:47. The hosts were up by 6 points in just over three minutes remaining when Vairogs and Gulbis knocked down treys to trim the deficit. Gulbis then followed with another triple as the visitors got even closer. Janis Strelnieks hit another long bomb as the visitors pulled ahead 60:59 with 31 seconds remaining. Tsintsadze got fouled and converted both free throws to put TU/Rock in front but Rashad Anderson had the last laugh in this one bringing victory for Ventspils. Rashad Anderson and Tweety Carter knocked down 10 points each for Ventspils. Janis Strelnieks provided 9 points in the win. Timo Eichfuss responded with 12 points for TU/Rock. Marek Doronin and Rain Veideman accounted for 10 points each in the loss.
