Keflavik experienced little problems en route to the first quarterfinal victory. They cruised past visiting IR. The game without a history. Keflavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to IR's 42. They outrebounded IR 40-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The former international guard Axel Vilhjalmsson (188-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and American guard Thomas Sanders (191-85, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Duran International) chipped in 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Kelly Biedler (196-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) responded with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Serbian-Canadian forward Nemanja Sovic (198-77, college: Pfeiffer) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
