The game in Thessaloniki was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Panathinaikos (20-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Aris (10-11). Panathinaikos managed to secure a 6-point victory 75-69. It looked good early as Aris took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Panathinaikos had a 28-9 second period charge getting the lead and Aris was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-75. They outrebounded Aris 33-19 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Dimitris Diamantidis (196-80) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 assists for the winners and American guard Drew Nicholas (191-81, college: Maryland) chipped in 9 points and 7 assists. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Panathinaikos' coach Zeljko Obradovic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Bosnian power forward Edin Bavcic (210-84, agency: Beo Basket) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kosta Charalampidis (189-76) scored 16 points and 4 assists. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Panathinaikos. Defending champion maintains second place with 20-1 record behind leader Olympiakos.
