Second Stage Round 25: Lanus - Quimsa 69-75

Date: March 18, 2011
The game between second ranked Lanus (15-10) and ninth ranked Quimsa (12-13) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Lanus was defeated by Quimsa in a tough game in Buenos Aires 69-75. Lanus trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 21-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Lanus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Julio Mazzaro (190-79) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Dream Team Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized Italian swingman Adrian Boccia (196-82) scored 11 points. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimsa maintains ninth place with 12-13 record. Lanus lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Quimsa are looking forward to face Boca Juniors (#11) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Lanus will play at home against Atenas (#5) in Cordoba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
