Regular Season Round 21: Anwil - Energa Czarni 72-64

There was a small surprise in Wloclawek where sixth ranked Anwil (11-10) defeated 3rd placed Energa Czarni (13-8) 72-64 on Friday. Energa Czarni was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 27-14 charge of Anwil, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Energa Czarni outrebounded Anwil 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Chris Thomas (186-82, college: Notre Dame) who scored 19 points. International forward Lukasz Majewski (199-82) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Anwil's coach Emir Mutapcic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jerel Blassingame (177-81, college: UNLV) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Bosnian center Ermin Jazvin (210-80, agency: Lanshire Group) added 15 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Anwil moved-up to fifth place. Energa Czarni at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Anwil will face league's leader Asseco Prokom in Gdynia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Energa Czarni will play at home against Polonia Azbud in Warszawa.
