Sixth-ranked Krasnie Krilya (7-11) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked CSKA Moscow (12-6) on Saturday. CSKA Moscow managed to secure only eight-point victory 89-81. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Krasnie Krilya. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Krasnie Krilya won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Krasnie Krilya used huge pressure winning it 16-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually double-overtime period 11-19. They outrebounded Krasnie Krilya 50-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. CSKA Moscow looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Krasnie Krilya was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international guard J.R. Holden (185-76, college: Bucknell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 assists. American swingman Jamont Gordon (193-87, college: Mississippi St.) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Victor Zvarykin (199-86) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Brion Rush (186-84, college: Grambling St., agency: Court Side) added 18 points in the effort for Krasnie Krilya. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Lokomotiv. Krasnie Krilya at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. CSKA Moscow will face league's leader Unics Kazan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Krasnie Krilya will play against Khimky (#4) in Khimki.
