Regular Season Round 23: Tigers - Blaze 81-82

A very close game took place in Melbourne between Gold Coast Blaze and Melbourne Tigers. Sixth ranked Gold Coast Blaze (12-14) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Melbourne Tigers (10-16). Gold Coast Blaze managed to escape with a 1-point win 82-81 in the fight for the sixth place. Melbourne Tigers were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-15 charge of Gold Coast Blaze, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) helped adding 12 points and 7 assists. Gold Coast Blaze's coach Joey Wright used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Lucas Walker (203, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Gold Coast Blaze maintains sixth place with 12-14 record. Loser Melbourne Tigers keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will meet at home Adelaide 36ers (#8) in the next round. Melbourne Tigers will play against the league's second-placed Townsville Crocodiles in Wulguru and hope to secure a win.
