Second Stage Round 2: Cibona - Zadar 57-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zagreb where bottom-ranked Cibona (0-2) was crushed by eighth ranked Zadar (1-2) 80-57. Zadar dominated on the defensive end, holding Cibona to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Cibona's 28. Zadar forced 22 Cibona turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Cibona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Swingman Marko Car (188-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. American forward Brandon Brown (202-81, college: Tulane) contributed with 20 points for the winners. International swingman Bojan Bogdanovic (202-89) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ante Krapic (202-85) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cibona. Cibona's coach Drazen Anzulovic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Zadar left bottom position moving up to sixth place in Group A. Defending champion Cibona still closes the standings with two games lost. Zadar's next round opponent will be Zabok (#7) in Zabok. Cibona's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Zagreb to the arena Cedevita.
