Second Stage Round 6: Novy Jicin - NH Ostrava 75-73

Important game to mention about took place in Novy Jicin. Sixth ranked Novy Jicin (1-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging bottom-ranked NH Ostrava (0-3) 75-73 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as NH Ostrava took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Novy Jicin had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and NH Ostrava was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-75. They outrebounded NH Ostrava 37-25 including 26 on the offensive glass. American-Puerto Rican guard Emanuel Ubilla (188-86, college: Fairleigh Dickinson) notched 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Slovakian forward Dusan Pandula (196-84) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Novy Jicin's coach Zbynek Choleva allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by Canadian forward Andrew Spagrud (203-85) did not help to save the game for NH Ostrava. American forward Dwight Burke (203-86, college: Marquette) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Novy Jicin left bottom position moving up to fourth place in A1, which they share with BK Decin. It was NH Ostrava's third loss in a row. They still closes the standings with three games lost. Novy Jicin will play against league's leader CEZ Nymburk on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. NH Ostrava will play against BK Decin (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
