Regular Season Round 151: LA Clippers - Dallas M. 100-106
Date: March 30, 2011
At least the Mavericks didn't have to worry about using up much quality play before they got to tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. They didn't need much to outrun LA's other team Wednesday night, although they did have to sweat at the end. The Mavericks got by with a modicum of execution, conserving some energy and using a brief display of focus in the third quarter to spring free and roll to a 106-100 victory over the Clippers at Staples Center. They blew out to a 96-80 lead with under six minutes to go, but the Clippers scored 11 consecutive points - six by Blake Griffin - to close to 96-91. Then J.J. Barea played the hero's role with a 3-pointer and layup to push the advantage back to 10 with two minutes left. The Mavericks improved to an NBA best 27-10 on the road. Barea did an impressive job both with and without Kidd on the court, slicing through the Clippers' defense for 22 points and six assists. Shawn Marion had a strong evening and Stojakovic hit three of four 3-pointers to finish with 11 points. *Courtesy of www.star-telegram.com
