The game in was also quite interesting. Second ranked Capitanes (1-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Guaynabo (1-1). Capitanes did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-71 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Capitanes. Guaynabo was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Guaynabo's 28. Capitanes forced 20 Guaynabo turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman David Cortes (190-81) who scored 21 points. The former international center Jeffrion Aubry (205-76, college: Cornell, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds and American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Guaynabo's coach Raymond Dalmau gave the chance to play for ten players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Capitanes went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Guaynabo. Capitanes will face San German (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
