Regular Season Round 118: Ft.Wayne MA - Sioux Falls S. 110-104

Date: April 2, 2011
Coming into the regular season finale, the Mad Ants had to win in order to even have a chance at the first postseason berth in franchise history, then they would need some help. If the Mad Ants won, they would need both Texas and Idaho to lose. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants ended the regular season with a 110-104 home victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Mad Ants got off to a quick start going up by 7 points in the first 4 minutes of play but the Sioux Falls Skyforce quickly countered that by going up 6 to end the period. The Skyforce led for most of the second period until a Ryan Wittman three pointer with 5:00 left in the half tied the game up at 49 apiece. Wittman scored 11 second period points for the Ants as they headed into the locker rooms up 67-61. The Mad Ants pulled away in the third building a comfortable 10 points lead going into the fourth. The Mad Ants led by as many as 12 points in the final period but the Skyforce made a late run to cut the lead to just 2 with 1:00 left in the game. A pair of free throws from Mad Ants Darnell Lazare and a driving layup from Chris Kramer sealed the deal for the Ants. Ryamond Sykes led all scorers with 32 points for the Skyforce. Sean Marshall added 23 and Chris McCray finished with 22. Lazare led the Ants with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Kramer finished with 25 points and 6 assists and Wittman contributed 15 off of the bench. Unfortunately, Austin didn't do the Mad Ants any favors losing to Texas in double overtime as the Legends claimed the eighth and final playoff spot in the NBDL. The Mad Ants best season in franchise history comes to an end with a record of 24-26. *Courtesy of www.wane.com
