Regular Season Round 23: Marousi - Aris 71-82

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Marousi (12-11) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Aris (12-11) 82-71. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Marousi was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Aris forced 19 Marousi turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Marousi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Bosnian power forward Edin Bavcic (210-84, agency: Beo Basket) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Kosta Charalampidis (189-76) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. American swingman Edward Basden (196-83, college: Charlotte, agency: EM-PA) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Marousi in the defeat. Five Aris and four Marousi players scored in double figures. Aris moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Marousi. Aris' next round opponent will be AEK (#12) in Athens and are hoping to win another game. Marousi will play on the road against Ilysiakos (#13) in Athens.
