Regular Season Round 29: Sorgues - Brest 89-56

The most shocking disappointment of round 29 was a road defeat of 4th placed Etendard de Brest (17-11) by seventh ranked Sorgues (16-12) who outscored them by 33 points 89-56. The game without a history. Sorgues led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Etendard de Brest's 24. They outrebounded Etendard de Brest 47-25 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Central African forward Francois Pehoua-Tara-Ngoyi (196-83, college: Hampton) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and center Xavier Pasut (200-84) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Five Sorgues players scored in double figures. Center Rafael Lopez (204-86) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Julien Doreau (200-83) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sorgues moved-up to fifth place, which they share with St Quentin and St Etienne. Etendard de Brest at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Sorgues is looking forward to face bottom-ranked CFBB (#18) in Paris in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Etendard de Brest will play at home against Lievin Basket (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
