The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cairns Taipans won fourth quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Peter Crawford (193-79) accounted for 17 points. American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Ronald Dorsey (197-83, college: McNeese St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Cairns Taipans in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
