Second Stage Round 9: BK Decin - Novy Jicin 82-75

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked BK Decin and 6th ranked Novy Jicin had identical 1-5 record. This time BK Decin used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Novy Jicin 82-75 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Novy Jicin won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BK Decin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International forward Pavel Houska (201-84) stepped up and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and international forward Tomas Pomikalek (200-89) chipped in 11 points. Four BK Decin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian-German forward Robert Sarovic (205-78) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BK Decin (2-5) moved-up to fourth place in A1. Novy Jicin lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. BK Decin will face higher ranked BK Pardubice (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Novy Jicin will play against the league's second-placed BK Prostejov.
