Very important is a home loss of second ranked Maratonistas (3-1) against fifth ranked Mets (3-2) on Saturday night. Host Maratonistas were defeated by Mets in a tough game in Coamo 76-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maratonistas. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But Maratonistas won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) supported him with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Even 26 points and 6 rebounds by guard Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) did not help to save the game for Maratonistas. American-Lebanese forward Matt Freije (207-81, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Priority Sports) added 13 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mets moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Capitanes. Loser Maratonistas keep the second position with one game lost. They share it with Bayamon. Mets will meet Indios (#8) in the next round. Maratonistas will play against the league's leader Quebradillas (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
