Leading B&W Opava (17-12) recorded its twelfth loss on the court of fourth ranked Basketbol Brno on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Basketbol Brno in overtime 90-86. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of B&W Opava. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 18-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 8-point victory in overtime. Basketbol Brno outrebounded B&W Opava 46-33 including 30 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Slovakian center Peter Sedmak (203-85) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. American center Stephen Castleberry (214-81, college: Rider, agency: Court Side) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jakub Blazek (203-80) who recorded 34 points (!!!) and 4 steals (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and forward Jan Kratochvil (200-82) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. B&W Opava's coach David Klapetek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Basketbol Brno. They moved-up to third place in A2, which they share with USK Praha. Loser B&W Opava still keeps top position with 12 games lost. Basketbol Brno will meet at home USK Praha (#4) in the next round. B&W Opava will play against Basketbal Svitavy and hope to secure a win.
