Second Stage Round 9: NH Ostrava - BK Pardubice 79-82

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NBL took place in Ostrava. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked NH Ostrava (1-5) to third ranked BK Pardubice (5-2) 82-79 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 24-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. International power forward Martin Marek (206-80, college: Colgate) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and swingman Jiri Cernosek (200-81) chipped in 18 points. BK Pardubice's coach Jan Slowiak used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Lukas Palyza (204-89) with 25 points and Canadian forward Andrew Spagrud (203-85) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five NH Ostrava players scored in double figures. BK Pardubice moved-up to second place in A1, which they share with BK Prostejov. NH Ostrava at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. BK Pardubice is looking forward to face BK Decin (#4) at home in the next round. NH Ostrava will play against the league's leader CEZ Nymburk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
