Semi-Finals Game 1: KTP - Kataja 73-98

Date: April 12, 2011
It looked good early as KTP-Basket took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Joensuun Kataja had a 27-17 second period charge getting the lead and KTP-Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-98. KTP-Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tennessee-Martin, agency: Court Side) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Darren Fells (201-86, agency: Court Side) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Lanshire Group) responded with 20 points (made all of his eight free throws) and Canadian forward Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Limelight Hoops) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
