Regular Season Round 5: Arecibo - Bayamon 59-94
Date: April 13, 2011
The game between Top Four teams took place in Arecibo. 3rd placed host Capitanes (3-3) were smashed by second ranked Vaqueros (4-1) 94-59. The game without a history. Vaqueros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Vaqueros had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) nailed 19 points and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international guard Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Alti Sport) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. The former international swingman David Cortes (190-81) came up with 12 points and 5 rebounds and guard Omar Alvarado (180-83) added 12 points respectively for Capitanes in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vaqueros have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Quebradillas. Capitanes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Vaqueros will play against Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Capitanes will play at home against Caciques in Humacao and hope to get back on the winning track.
