Regular Season Round 6: Guaynabo - San German 78-93
Date: April 15, 2011
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Mets (4-3) against sixth ranked Atleticos (3-5) on Friday night. Host Mets were defeated by Atleticos in Guaynabo 93-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mets. The game was mostly controlled by Atleticos. Mets managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Atleticos outrebounded Mets 48-34 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mike Harris notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds by American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) did not help to save the game for Mets. International swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Mets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Atleticos went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with Mayaguez. Loser Mets dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Atleticos will meet at home Indios (#7) in the next round. Mets will play against the league's second-placed Maratonistas where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
