The game in Arecibo was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Maratonistas (5-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Capitanes (3-4). Maratonistas managed to secure a 4-point victory 81-77. It looked good early as Capitanes took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maratonistas had a 23-19 second period charge getting the lead and Capitanes were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-81. The best player for the winners was American guard Ronnie Fields (193-77, college: High School, agency: Edge Sports) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American-Lebanese forward Matt Freije (207-81, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Maratonistas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international swingman David Cortes (190-81) added 19 points respectively. Maratonistas moved-up to second place, which they share with Bayamon. Capitanes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. Maratonistas' next round opponent will be Mets (#4) in Guaynabo. Capitanes will play on the road against Caciques in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
