No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Marousi (13-12) beat at home 12th ranked AEK (7-18) 78-69 on Saturday. They outrebounded AEK 35-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Chris Sumpter who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (191-78) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian swingman Vukasin Mandic (200-82) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for AEK. AEK's coach Angelos Koronios rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Marousi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aris. AEK lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Marousi will face Peristeri GS (#9) in Athens in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panionios.
