Regular Season Round 6: San German - Bayamon 83-89

Date: April 17, 2011
The game in San German was also quite interesting. Third ranked Vaqueros (5-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Atleticos (3-5). Vaqueros managed to secure a 6-point victory 89-83 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 53-46 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vaqueros made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vaqueros made 7 blocks. Atleticos were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU) replied with 16 points and Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Atleticos. Five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Atleticos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vaqueros moved-up to second place, which they share with Coamo. Loser Atleticos dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Vaqueros will face Gallitos (#9) in Isabela in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Atleticos will play at home against Indios in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
