Regular Season Round 7: Santurce - Quebradillas 90-93

Everything went according to plan in Santurce where first ranked Quebradillas (7-1) edged bottom-ranked Cangrejeros (2-6) 93-90 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cangrejeros won fourth quarter 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quebradillas made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Quebradillas outrebounded Cangrejeros 40-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international center Peter John Ramos (222-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. International guard David Huertas (196-87, college: Mississippi) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). At the losing side American forward Michael Sweetney (203-82, college: Georgetown) responded with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 23 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quebradillas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record. Cangrejeros at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Quebradillas will face Capitanes (#5) in Arecibo in the next round. Cangrejeros will play at home against Atleticos (#6) in San German.
