Regular Season Round 7: Guaynabo - Coamo 92-85

Date: April 19, 2011
There was a minor upset in Guaynabo where much higher ranked Maratonistas (5-3) were defeated by fourth ranked Mets (5-3) 92-85 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-85. It was a great evening for international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) helped adding 20 points and 16 rebounds. At the losing side American-Lebanese forward Matt Freije (207-81, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Priority Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Andres Ortiz (188-86) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maratonistas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mets moved-up to third place, which they share with Coamo. Mets will face league's second-placed Vaqueros in Bayamon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maratonistas will play on the road against Indios in Mayaguez.
