Regular Season Round 8: Guaynabo - Bayamon 77-80

The most exciting game of round 8 in the BSN took place in Guaynabo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Mets (7-4) to second ranked Vaqueros (7-2) 80-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mets. Mets were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Vaqueros made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Vaqueros had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vaqueros made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) who scored 30 points and 9 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Mets players scored in double figures. Vaqueros have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Quebradillas. Mets at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Vaqueros is looking forward to face Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round where they are favorite. Mets will play on the road against Caciques (#5) in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
