Regular Season Round 2: Waikato P. - HBS Bank Hawks 59-71

Date: April 24, 2011
The game in Hamilton was also quite interesting. Top-ranked Bay Hawks (4-0) played at the court of 5th ranked Waikato P. (1-2). Bay Hawks defeated Waikato P. 71-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Bay Hawks. Waikato P. managed to win second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Waikato P. 49-28 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Josh Pace (198-83, college: Syracuse) notched 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and swingman Christopher Daniel (197-85) supported him with 21 points. Even 21 points by American guard Jerry Smith (185-87, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Waikato P.. His fellow American import forward Sylvester Seay (208-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Impact Basketball) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Waikato P.'s coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bay Hawks have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Loser Waikato P. dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Bay Hawks will meet Southland S. (#4) on the road in the next round. Waikato P. will play against Nelson G. in Stoke and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
