There was no surprise in Isabela where 10th ranked Gallitos (3-7) were edged by fourth ranked Mets (7-4) 95-92 on Sunday. Mets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who scored 32 points and 8 rebounds. Australian forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 22 points. American guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) produced 31 points and his fellow American import forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Mets and five Gallitos players scored in double figures. Mets moved-up to third place. Loser Gallitos dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Mets will face Caciques (#5) in Humacao in the next round. Gallitos will play on the road against Indios (#10) in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
