Very important is a home loss of second ranked Vaqueros (7-3) against seventh ranked Atleticos (5-6) on Tuesday night. Host Vaqueros were defeated by Atleticos in a tough game in Bayamon 81-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vaqueros. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Vaqueros won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU) chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 21 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Atleticos moved-up to sixth place. Loser Vaqueros keep the second position with three games lost. Atleticos will meet Gallitos (#9) in the next round. Vaqueros will play against Capitanes (#7) in Arecibo and hope to secure a win.
