Important game to mention about took place in Mayaguez. Ninth ranked Gallitos (4-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Indios (3-9) 74-73 in the game for the ninth place. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-73. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gallitos made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Josue Soto (186-80) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Brandon Robinson (202-81, college: Auburn, agency: Paris Global Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international center Hector Valenzuela (204-82, college: Queens, NC) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Five Gallitos and four Indios players scored in double figures. Gallitos maintains ninth place with 4-7 record. Indios lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Gallitos will face higher ranked Atleticos (#6) in San German in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Indios will play on the road against Mets (#3) in Guaynabo.
