Regular Season Round 10: Arecibo - Santurce 66-68

Date: April 28, 2011
A very close game took place in Arecibo between Cangrejeros and Capitanes. Sixth ranked Cangrejeros (5-7) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Capitanes (5-6). Cangrejeros managed to escape with a 2-point win 68-66 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Michael Sweetney (203-82, college: Georgetown) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized Ivorian guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) supported him with 15 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Even 17 points by American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. The former international center Daniel Santiago (216-76, college: N.Mexico, agency: Priority Sports) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Capitanes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeros have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Cangrejeros went down to eighth position due to points difference. Loser Capitanes dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Cangrejeros will meet higher ranked Mets (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Capitanes will play against Gallitos (#9) in Isabela and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
