Regular Season Round 10: Guaynabo - Mayaguez 86-84

Very expected game when 10th ranked Indios (3-10) were edged by third ranked Mets (8-5) in Guaynabo 86-84 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Indios won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mets won last quarter 20-20. Indios were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Angel Luis Figueroa (196-81, college: Dowling, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Erick Rodriguez (190-79) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Brandon Robinson (202-81, college: Auburn, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Indios. Indios' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mets maintains third position with 8-5 record behind leader Quebradillas. Indios lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Mets will face Cangrejeros (#8) in Santurce in the next round where they are favorite.
